The 7th window !!

I just finished installing windows 7 on my lappy. Yay !! And this is my first post from it. Louder yay !!

Microsoft people have been generous enough by giving an year free of the 7th window. (I don't get paid for reporting bugs. Yet!). Thanks to the very tiny partition of 45 GB I made on the hard drive, I will be using it mostly for web browsing and silly stuff. So much for change!!

Anyways, its definitely faster and cooler. But the graphics look more or less the same, unless you are very picky about how your task bar looks. I can't say much though. Honestly!

On an altogether different note, I raise a toast to the most special couple (brangelina, not you. Not this time :P) in my life! Here's to 30 years of togetherness, bonding and companionship.
I am very sure that, I will look up to you guys for anything in a relationship.
Have a good one! :)

superwoman on the prowl

There was a lull in the air after the exams. Everything was at a standstill, me being licensed to procrastinate now.

So the day started on the same dull note, with clever me smartly setting traps for the examstricken poor me. To get into the groove I had promised the roomie to go for an early morning shopping escapade and had soaked some sprouts to awaken the cooking creativity. Shopping got cancelled and sprouts turned out to be boring too. I turned my attentions to Gregory House. 2 episodes down and I could feel things kicking in.

And thus the superwoman was unleashed. This is what she did to achieve the super-stardom.

i. Invited 2 friends for lunch. This meant cooking and of course entertaining them, setting out dishes, washing utensils afterwards etc.

ii. Self grooming session. This involved first hair cut in the US of A. It was a pretty dull experience, but had a 'good hair day' afterwards. Exactly what I wanted.

iii. Roamed around the Devon avenue (Indian street) and bought some groceries.

iv. Travelled back alone. This involved a bus ride beside a creepy woman. :|

v. Another big round of monthly grocery shopping. This involved lifting bags totally unsuitable to my structure :D

vi. Did laundry.

vii. Arranged all groceries.

viii. Relaxed a bit with a looong shower.

ix. Made favorite dinner of dosa-chutney. The filler this time was chana masala. Nice combo :)

x. Cleaned the kitchen after all the mess.

xi. Threw all the after exam trash. Arranged stuff in order and put them in respective files.

xii. Searched for all the bills and settled bills on billmonk.

xiii. Replied to all the pending mails. Social networking accomplished!

xiv. Now writing a blog about it. (just to show off the superwoman powers :P)

On some days I just ask myself 'why ????' while on days like these I feel like 'Impossible is nothing!'

signing off,
your friendly neighborhood ;)

lost in the crowd

She was raised in a small conservative family. She got married at an early age and moved to a big city. She always had those dreamy wings which she cut off for marriage, family and her children. She gave up a part of her independence to enable her children to be better poeple. Over the years with truckloads of responsibilities she lost touch with herself.

Today I met her at a shop. I was waiting outside the fitting room for my friend to come out. ThereI saw her coming in with 3 dresses in hand. She nodded at me. I smiled back and tried to trace her. After a while she came outside wearing one of the dresses, her eyes searching for someone's approval. It seemed her rebellious little daughter had ran off to the hip corner of the store to check out the season's new arrivals. Her disappointed empty gaze returned to me.

I nodded back, my eyes saying 'You look nice'.

Her smile said 'thank you'.

I think we made each other's day today.

crazy times

The crazy semester where someone juggled crazy subjects and work is over. Yeah! We just clicked submit on a project report.

So how do I feel?

mmm..A bit at peace. A lot confused. I know that you know such great moments pass us without making their presence felt. May be I should be dancing up and down the fire exit! But they already have enough of me here. Alas ...

So without much ado, I finish my little announcement that I am officially free to indulge in whatever I want to as there is nothing much to do.

To one hell of a sem !!

Parody no. 1

I know all of us have watched and enjoyed this movie :D

I love this parody. It is awesomely wonderful. The kids and actors (Sridevi and Anil Kapoor) must have had so much fun. It kinda looks evident.

I particularly love the part when Anil Kapoor joins the gang of brats and sings 'lafda hai ye kya mujhko batana' and uses his hat as a dafli and finally the kawwali. Damn funny and awesome!! Kudos to Laxmikant Pyarelaal, Javed Akhtar and Shekhar Kapur for a super refreshing sequence and movie.

Enjoy people !!!

And don't miss Sridevi's antics. I think she is one of the finest female actors we have, who can carry off comedy so effortlessly.

10 reasons I love superheroes/movies

My 5 cents on why!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, I love them.

1. Every superhero has a story, a humble beginning, circumstances which make him/her 'not normal'. That strikes a chord.

2. They are unsure of their motives and morals. Unsure of their responsibilities. Don't we all face such situations in real life ??

3. They always choose what is right for everyone. They see the bigger picture. I believe we all play the super heroic part at some point in life.

4. They want you to believe in goodness, fairness (not of the skin, duh) of the system.

5. These Hollywood people make the movies so spectacular and larger than life, it's hard to not get affected. Check out the harry potter trailer in my earlier post.

6. And if you rope in a hottie like Hugh Jackman or a cutie like Tobey Macguire, who would not like to die (watch the movie in spite of its craziness or long length) for them ??

7. As a personal gain from these movies I see everyone around me as a hero. Remember the incredibles ?

8. At the end there's always something to ponder upon or feel good about. A dark knight leaves you baffled whereas Harry Potter leaves you wiser.

9. Sometimes even with super heroic/magical powers they are as miserable as us. The to be or not to be dilemma ...

10. I finally quote a dialogue from Spiderman 2 here, which pretty much sums up all the 9 points above,

We need a hero, courageous sacrificing people, setting examples for all of us. Everybody loves a hero, people line up for 'em, cheer for them, scream their names, and years later tell how they stood in the rain for hours just to get a glimpse of the one who told them to HOLD ON a second longer. I believe there's a hero in all of us, that keeps us honest, gives us strength, makes us noble. And finally gets us to die with pride. Even though sometimes we have to be steady and give up the thing we want most, even our dreams.

X men origins - wolverine releases today. Roger Ebert here smashes the movie (my initial reaction after watching the trailer was not very exciting) but what the heck..

To my believes :D
