Fiona is angry. She says to Shrek who too is visibly distressed 'But you weren't there when I needed you. I rescued myself from the dragon and the castle.'
After a round of twists, things do fall into place.
Shrek is back to his happy, love filled life. He says to Fiona 'It wasn't I who rescued you. You truly rescued me.'
Despite the fairy tales one has been fed growing up and despite the sweeping generalization that *only* 'some people' need to be rescued 'all the time', I would like to believe in Shrek and Fiona's 'rescuing each other'.
Romantic and slightly foolish (naive?) but so heartening to hear :)

hehe I am quite anti rescue theory in writing...but now I no longer hold on to steadfastness of theories, they vanish the moment u may find someone worth being rescued by :)
ReplyDeleteI have no problem being rescued myself either ;)
ReplyDelete[on a serious note generalizations like, *only* girls need to be rescued, how boys need to be domesticated amuse me :D]
Everyone needs to be rescued ... one or the other time. Just the matter of finding the 'right' person! :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. And all generalizations die a natural death!

It is great if you are lucky enough to have someone rescue you. But the greatest thing one can do is try and rescue yourself, without waiting for that 'right' person!
ReplyDeleteThis theory somehow makes sense to me all the time..irrespective of whether I have my rescuer by my side or not ;)
@tanvi : totally agree :) Its feels great to be rescued by the right person :)
ReplyDelete@neha : trying is the key here :) howmuchever hopeless things might be one should not stop try-ing..
